"Everybody loves Touda is an engaging drama about women in Moroccan society."

The Moroccan-French filmmaker Nabil Ayouch advocates for the shikhat: a free-spirited woman who earns her living through traditional Moroccan singing and dancing. The shikhat represents an age-old Moroccan tradition in which women share their emotions and stories through dance and music. Touda dreams of supporting herself as a shikhat. She lives with her young son in a provincial town in Morocco, where she performs every evening. The men in the audience show little respect for Touda, but she continues to fight for recognition. Despite her vulnerability, she decides to try her luck in Casablanca for a better future for herself and her son.

Everybody Loves Touda is written by director Nabil Ayouch in collaboration with Maryam Touzani (Adam, The Blue Caftan). The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was Morocco's entry for the Oscars. Actress Nirsin Erradi (known for Adam) delivers an impressive lead performance: 'magnetic and powerful' (Marie Claire).
