The delightful, breathtakingly beautiful Gaucho Gaucho takes you to a remote mountain region in Argentina. Here, a community of gauchos proudly upholds their traditions and is deeply connected to their animals. In stunning black and white, we follow the stories of people who find meaning and freedom in a life rooted in simplicity, pride, and togetherness. A masterful documentary from the makers of The Truffle Hunters.

Gaucho Gaucho means that you are a ‘true’ gaucho. You live according to traditions, uphold honor, sing, dance, and dress as a gaucho. In the foothills of the Andes, the filmmakers find a community that clings to these traditions and finds great happiness in them. A delicate girl fulfills her greatest wish by becoming a traditional gaucho. Boys merge with the wilderness, galloping through vast landscapes. Through the truly spectacular cinematography, playful editing, and particularly captivating soundtrack, you are often transported into a feature film. This is enhanced by the fact that the filmmakers tell these stories without interviews or commentary; the gauchos play the leading role in their own story. Despite their seemingly simple and hard existence, the film radiates the romance and happiness these people find in their connection to nature and each other. Gaucho Gaucho is a tribute to a disappearing culture and a celebration of the freedom inherent in these traditions.
