The once mighty king, now scarred beyond recognition by war, finds a kingdom transformed. His wife, Queen Penelope (Juliette Binoche), lives a prisoner in her own home, besieged by violent suitors who want to marry her and take over the throne. Their son Telemachus (Charlie Plummer) must constantly battle these assailants who see him as a threat to the throne. To save his family and regain what he has lost, Odysseus must confront his past.
Director Uberto Pasolini (Nowhere Special) bases this grim retelling on Homer’s “The Odyssey,” reuniting star actors Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche for the first time on the big screen since The English Patient. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
