You’ll have the opportunity to watch her acclaimed short film Tourist Trap alongside exclusive clips from Down in the Dumps, accompanied by never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage that offers a glimpse into her meticulous craftsmanship.

Vera will also showcase parts of her handmade paper sets, providing ample inspiration for your own creative journey. After her insightful talk, the workshop shifts to a hands-on activity where you can cut out characters from Down in the Dumps and craft your own scene. Vera van Wolferen, hailing from the Netherlands, is renowned for her highly detailed constructed papercraft worlds that bring miniature magical realms to life. With a portfolio that includes collaborations with brands like Heineken, Facebook, Bosch, and Jo Malone, Vera has left an indelible mark on the world of animation and design. Her short film Down in the Dumps is set to premiere at the Berlinale in February 2025, and her previous works, including Tourist Trap and her graduation film How to Catch a Bird, have earned her accolades such as a Vimeo Staff Pick and recognition by Monocle as one of the new-generation animators.
