The film is set 183 years before the events of the original film trilogy. The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim tells the tale of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. After an unexpected attack by Wulf, the clever and ruthless leader of the Darklanders who seeks to avenge the death of his father, Helm and his people are forced to take refuge in an ancient stronghold, the Hornburg—a mighty fortress in the valley that will come to be known as Helm's Deep. Seeing their situation grow increasingly desperate, Hera, Helm's daughter, musters the courage to lead a resistance against a deadly enemy bent on their extinction.
