After the loss of her parents and their land, May lives with her grandfather in an self-sustaining house floating on water. She dreams of a life on land, but due to a mysterious condition, she faints as soon as she sets foot on solid ground.

Her grandfather, convinced that she is cursed by their ancestors, forbids her from leaving the house. Although solid ground has become a dangerous place for her, May remains drawn to it. When her grandfather is injured and she is tormented by the uncertainty of a life at sea, her desire to go ashore grows stronger than ever.

Tale of the Land is the debut feature film by director Loeloe Hendra. Visually stunning with dreamlike, surreal images and mystical elements, the film addresses themes such as climate change, land theft, and capitalism in a symbolic and poetic way.
