Rangoon, Burma, 1917. On the day his fiancée Molly arrives to marry him, Edward, a British Empire official, flees. Tormented by panic, he embarks on an adventurous journey across the Asian continent. While the cowardly Edward tries to keep a safe distance from Molly by train, boat and on foot, his fear gradually turns into melancholy. Pondering the emptiness of his existence, he wonders what it would be like for her. Meanwhile, his fiancée refuses to believe that Edward is abandoning her. Amused by his flight, Molly sets out on a relentless pursuit, still determined to marry him.
Grand Tour won the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival, was awarded the Best Soundtrack Award in Ghent and received rave reviews from the international press.
