Based on the memoirs of Marcelo Rubens Paiva, I'm Still Here tells the true story of the disappearance of his father, former congressman Rubens Paiva, during the Brazilian military dictatorship in the 1970s. The lives of Rubens Paiva’s wife, Eunice (Fernanda Torres), and their five children change abruptly—and forever—after his disappearance.

I'm Still Here is nominated for 3 Oscars!

Eunice is imprisoned and pressured by the regime to betray her friends and family. When she is released 12 days later, she dedicates herself to resisting the corrupt regime and fighting for the rights of thousands of disappeared, innocent citizens and their families.

Director Walter Salles (Central Station, The Motorcycle Diaries, On the Road) returns to fiction filmmaking after a long hiatus, delivering this powerful portrait—his first film in 16 years shot in his home country, Brazil, where it became a box office sensation. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival, and actress Fernanda Torres won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in the ‘Motion Picture - Drama’ category for her role.

OSCAR NOMINATIONS
Best Picture, Best Actress (Fernanda Torres), Best International Feature Film.
