The wealthy Alma has been visiting her husband Christopher, a former surgeon, in prison in Bordeaux for years. During a visit, she meets Mina, a mother of two young children who is not allowed to see her husband because of an administrative error. Because she feels sorry for her, she invites Mina to stay overnight in her large villa so that she does not have to travel back. A friendship develops and Alma suggests that she and both children move into the large house. For Alma, this is a way to fill her lonely life and for Mina it brings peace to her chaotic life and away from the flat in a working-class neighborhood.
