The documentary shows in an illuminating and visual way how the past can have an impact on the present. Voices resonate in literature, lectures and other artistic expressions. On Wednesday, November 13, the two directors will make their voices heard in Natlab during the Q&A.

For their film, Simone Berger and Armando Ello looked for the transfer of transgenerational (war) traumas to the second and third post-war generations with an Indian and/or Moluccan background. Literary writers such as Marion Bloem and Adriaan van Dis look back on their family history in this documentary. They grew up with (grand)parents with unresolved traumas. In addition, several artists like Robin Block will show us new ways to deal with their eventful legacy.

Clinical psychologist and psychotherapist Schelfhout wrote the script together with Berger. Schelfhout and two trauma specialists provide insight into how (war) traumas can be passed on from generation to generation. The interviews are supplemented with 2D animations that show the influence of stress and anxiety on the body and brain in an accessible way.
