Widow Clicquot

Widow Clicquot is based on the true story of the 'Grand Dame of Champagne' Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin. At the age of twenty, she married François Clicquot, heir to the famous Clicquot champagne empire. When François dies, widow ('veuve') Barbe-Nicole takes over and is determined to further develop her husband's revolutionary applications. Battered by the seasons, competing winemakers and the Napoleonic Code, which prohibits her from running a business as a woman, the elegant widow (played by Haley Bennett) must do everything she can to protect the Clicquot heritage. This sparkling costume drama, also a toast to love and female entrepreneurship, is directed by Thomas Napper (Jawbone). Actress Haley Bennett, known for her roles in Swallow and The Girl on the Train, plays the role of the widow Clicquot.
