Under a scorching sun, Purdey, seventeen, and his brother Makenzy, fifteen, are left to their own devices and try to fend for themselves.

Belgian filmmaker Paloma Sermon-Daï impresses with her debut film Il Pleut dans la Maison. A fascinating portrait, somewhere between documentary and fiction, of a brother and sister during a long, sultry summer. Under a blazing summer sun, seventeen-year-old Purdey and her fifteen-year-old brother Makenzy are left to fend for themselves. Somewhere between the carefreeness of adolescence and the responsibilities of adult life, Purdey works as a cleaner in a holiday park and Makenzy earns some money by robbing tourists. Completely dependent on each other, this seems to be the last summer of their youth.
Il Pleut dans la Maison premiered at the Cannes Film Festival at the Semaine de la Critique, where it won the French Touch Jury Prize.
