Stefan is a mild-mannered construction worker in Brussels who is about to head to Romania, his homeland, for a summer vacation. During his walks and while saying farewell to friends and family, he meets ShuXiu, a young Belgian-Chinese woman devoting her studies to moss. Her eye for the barely visible intrigues Stefan and makes his gaze focus even more on the treasures that constantly surround us - whether they are shared with those around us or simply growing under our feet.
Here is a poetic urban symphony that pays tribute to the invisible and the beauty of the small. Patiently and contemplatively, director Bas Devos unfolds the connection between city and nature and, against the backdrop of a burgeoning love story, the connection between people themselves. His titillating film was beautifully portrayed by cinematographer Grimm Vandekerck, whose work was awarded by the Robby Müller Award at this year's Rotterdam Film Festival.
