Chiron grows up in Miami. As a gay black man from an underprivileged neighborhood and with his drug addict mother, Chiron is burdened by life. In three different chapters you see Chiron struggle with his orientation, masculinity and the difficult relationship with his mother. Director Barry Jenkins poignantly portrays a rare complex character. It is therefore not without reason that Moonlight won the Oscar for best film in 2016.
