Blitz

Directed by Sir Steve McQueen, Blitz follows the riveting journey of George (Elliott Heffernan), a 9-year-old boy in World War II London, whose mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) sends him to the English countryside to find safety. Determined to return to his mother and grandfather Gerald (Paul Weller) in East London, George sets out on an adventure that puts himself in great danger. Meanwhile, a desperate Rita searches for her missing son. Written and directed by BAFTA winner Steve McQueen, the film stars BAFTA Award nominee Ronan and newcomer Heffernan, and features Harris Dickinson, Benjamin Clementine, Kathy Burke, Weller, Stephen Graham, Leigh Gill, Mica Ricketts, CJ Beckford, Alex Jennings, Joshua McGuire, Hayley Squires, Erin Kellyman and Sally Messham. McQueen's production company Lammas Park produced the film with Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films, Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer of New Regency, in association with producers Anita Overland and Adam Somner. McQueen re-teamed with production designer Adam Stockhausen (12 Years a Slave, Widows), costume designer Jacqueline Durran (Small Axe), composer Hans Zimmer (12 Years a Slave), cinematographer Yorick Le Saux (Little Women) and makeup artist Naomi Donne (No Time to Die) on the film.
