Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger Martin Scorsese celebrates the legacy of legendary screen duo Powell and Pressburger. Through a wealth of clips and rare archival footage, Scorsese explores the duo’s daring genius and their colossal impact on film history.

Emeric Pressburger fled Nazi Germany and met Michael Powell in London. It was the start of a unique and productive collaboration that led to classics such as THE LIFE AND DEATH OF COLONEL BLIMP (1943), BLACK NARCISSUS (1947) and THE RED SHOES (1948). Numerous film fragments and unique archive material help to clarify how brilliant Powell and Pressburger were. Martin Scorsese movingly shows how daring and uncompromising the work of the men was, and how this is reflected in his own films. Director David Hinton has won several Bafta Awards. He produced this documentary in collaboration with Michael Powell's wife Thelma Schoonmaker, award-winning editor of GOODFELLAS (1990) and KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON (2023). MADE IN ENGLAND is released in collaboration with MUBI.
