When American research assistant Oliver comes to Italy to work with Elio's father, Elio is disappointed at first. He felt like lazing around in the heat of the Italian summers. Still, Elio is intrigued and soon comes up with all kinds of ideas to spend time with Oliver. An intense tension arises between the two and after a playful but meaningful first kiss they are immediately inseparable.
