Hannie Derks appointed as the new Director-CEO of Natlab

Starting May 1, we welcome Hannie Derks as the new Director-CEO of Natlab. She takes over from Jan van der Putten, who, as interim director, played a crucial role in Natlab’s recovery and renewal over the past year.

Building on a Strong Foundation
2024 was a turning point for Natlab. What began with financial challenges ended with a positive financial result, growing visitor numbers, and renewed energy within our space. With the 2025-2028 policy plan in hand, Hannie Derks will continue to build on Natlab as a hub where film, theater, art, and encounters come together. The plan responds to the city’s evolution and sets ambitious goals for audience engagement, programming, and collaboration.

New Energy with Hannie Derks
Hannie Derks is a native of Eindhoven and is currently the director of De Weeffabriek in Geldrop, where she has successfully developed this creative and cultural meeting space. She also serves as a member of the supervisory board of pop venue Effenaar. With her experience in cultural organizations and her vision for audience engagement, she brings a fresh perspective and new energy to Natlab.

"I look forward to working with the Natlab team to create a place where visitors arrive with curiosity and leave feeling inspired. We will continue on the path we’ve set while embracing new ideas and collaborations.”

Confidence in the Future
Jan van der Putten looks back with satisfaction on his time as interim director. Ad van Berlo, chairman of the Supervisory Board, adds:

"We are grateful to Jan for his dedication and leadership during a challenging year. Together with the team, he ensured stability and growth. With Hannie, we are bringing in an inspiring and connecting leader who can further realize Natlab’s ambitions."

With Hannie Derks as our new Director-CEO, we are taking the next step in strengthening Natlab as a cultural meeting place that contributes to a vibrant and inspiring Eindhoven.
