Jan van der Putten appointed as new director of Plaza Futura

With effect from March 1, 2024, Jan van der Putten will become the new director of the Plaza Futura Film and Theater Center Foundation. He succeeds Harry Wiechers, who has fulfilled this role on an interim basis from September 1, 2023.

Plaza Futura is currently facing major challenges, especially because visitor numbers are lagging behind after the corona crisis. In recent months, intensive work has been done to address these shortages and attract more visitors. The first positive results of these efforts are currently becoming visible, with a gradual increase in the number of visitors and a gradual extension of the café's opening hours.

Jan van der Putten has been appointed for a period of one year and has been tasked with developing a new vision for Natlab and the role of Plaza Futura in it. The ambition is to make Natlab a cultural hotspot in Eindhoven again. A place where collaboration in the field of film, theater, art and culture is central. A meeting place for all Eindhoven residents. In addition, Van der Putten has been expressly instructed to make the operation of the Plaza Futura foundation healthy in a sustainable manner.

Jan van der Putten was at the foundation of the Verkade factory in Den Bosch and was its director from its construction in 2002 until 2021. He was part of many urban, provincial and national boards and networks. Under his directorship, the Verkade Factory grew into a busy and successful institution where more than 200,000 people visit its activities every year. We can put this knowledge and experience to good use in the coming year.
